my diary entry tuesday oct 21st 2014: Simulators. A helicopter and plane one. I was like 5th on the helicopter one, I never got to try the plane one. I waited that long because I didn't want to suck, so I waited and watched the other dudes go. I did really good in the beginning, but once in the air I forgot that the stick (what's it called again?) is forward to bring the nose down and back to b...

Cool video..worked ramp, operations from age 28 until I was 64. I miss the job,the crew I worked with, just being on the ramp with the planes...it was a cool gig. Hope you have a long, great career..best of luck.
Great summary! Bagroom always popular with my more senior agents (they loved the 3am start time and be home at noon!). I was a station/general manager for an airline for many years. I thought it a great compliment on my last day my ramp supervisors asked me to work one last quick turn with them (and had to push it out with all 25 or so agents on duty watching). I always had my office downstairs (a lot of colleagues had theirs at the ticket counter). Ramp is where the action is and where the operation is truly run. And most people who do it love it and get a rush from it.
I’m baked watching this at 2x speed at 2am. Subscribed
I saw those abs... nice! I'm jealous. FBO granola bars have been my downfall. I would love to hear about your CFII journey. I'm having difficulty balancing life, instructing and studying for CFII. It's usually the studying that gets cancelled when I need to rest. I had no idea how much time and effort goes into instructing. Being in a plane with a student is only a very small part of it. X that by the number of students I have... whew!
FBO granola bars are the best! And they’re because we no longer own 2 cars, so I have to bike whether I like it or not. 😅😂 and actually the next video I’m editing now is about my CFII studying and life updates. I hear you. My students and girlfriend come first, and then proper sleep eating and working out, then studying usually gets cut… 😅
Three minutes in and you are still doing cutesy stuff...no flying...I tuned out.
ok thanks for the feedback. I intended to do that, to show more of the process before the lesson and not only the lesson itself

Do you have ADHD? I am serious. It seems like you keep jumping from one thing to another and one can tell by your body movement and speech pattern. As a fellow ADHD person, I hope that you seek some help.
Tina wouldn't have let you down 🤣
speak on it!! this is what I've been saying! 😂
That makes perfect sense your tenacity will pay off 😎
thank you!! I appreciate it
no flying ??
not too much due to weather/storms, but really I don't film much anymore because of privacy for students and safety of flight...more videos coming out on this topic this summer! and flight videos are in the works, but most likely with other pilots not students.
What work boots do you use ? I start in a few days 😅

AA flight benefits are awesome and I’ve been a lot of places! I do enjoy the job but if it weren’t for the flights I wouldn’t be here I’m so glad you enjoy your coworkers and have a good time at your job, I envy that
I was a ramper for 3 years but I quit . I’m thinking I should go back but idk
why did you quit? will that problem still be present if you go back? was it industry specific, or company specific?

Nice video. You hit the nail on the head. I miss the job. Just too old to do it anymore.

awh thank you!! this was so encouraging, needed it. I have a lot of exams this week and have been feeling so tired..like I'm underperforming. Thanks for the comment
You need to take a breath,....calm...you don't need to speak a hundred miles an hour all the time x
I agree, thank you for the reminder! I know I'm talking too fast when I watch the video after editing and I think I'm watching on 1.5 speed, but I'm not.
Wow pretty entertaining
thank you for watching ☺
Thanks for the info and humor. New agent lost my badge 3 weeks in rushing to get flights in and out on time. Like to add don't leave your badge on your sleeve. If you take off your jacket. Love my job as a Ramp agent. Thanks for sharing
Amazing video. Please can you talk about Safety as a Ramp agent ? Thank you
How does a commercial pilot be a ramp agent? Or maybe commercial pilot for small tiny winy plains. But i guess what she says about the ramp agent is true.
"commercial" does not mean airlines, "commercial" in this sense just means "able to be paid or compensated for skills". So you can have a commercial pilot license, and not use it, or not be employed etc. I was in flight training and got my commercial license while being a rampa gent, it was a lot of fun 😄
@@abbieamavi Wow I admire your hard work to get the CPL while working as a ramp agent. Brilliant!!! Hopefully you don't get a breakthrough in becoming able to fly commercially.
Happy Birthday

It’s 3:30am. ETA is 5:32. “Yes early day!” *fog rolls in* intense waiting…plane pushed back to 7:45. 30 people flip a belt loader. Typical day for cargo at MSY
I laughed so hard because this is so true,😭 the biggest factors aren't even usually weather or maintenance, its human errors. thanks for the laugh 😂
@@abbieamavi management comes in. Everyone is supervised. You just moved locations. Nothing works. Everyone roasting each other because no one has what is needed. “Do your job! I’ve been here 28 years!” “28 years of doing it all wrong! Stfu!” “We don’t allow that he…” “you want back in on this?” “Carry on.”

My parents immigrated to the US about 50 some odd years ago. I’m the youngest of six and have always kind of done my own thing. I’m almost a decade older than you. I do find it challenging to try and be where everyone else is, but I’ve never taken out a student loan (I worked at a university and got part time tuition as a benefit). I left my former career 2 years ago and just kind of stumbled onto the ramp a little over a year ago. It’s tough when you don’t have a guidebook or a person to guide you, you make mistakes, but in the end life is all about experiences. You live, you learn, and hopefully you enjoy the ride. I’d like to try the pilot route, but I need to get my vision corrected up to the point that I can pass the medical first. My brother is about 12 years older than me, wife, and kids and he’s currently going for it in a program with his airline. I’m not sure I’d do the same at his age, but I don’t have a family so definitely gonna try as long as my medical is good.
Hey congrats on your journey, hard work, and perseverance. The 50 off tuition is a life hack for sure! (It’s also a great idea to work at a flight school, and hopefully they will give you discounts on their plane rentals). It’s the fact that everyone has a different route, and comparison and complaining doesn’t help any of us. However, hard work benefits everybody. And some luck too. But ultimately we choose our future, some just might take longer to get there because of all our different starting places. I will say job wise, aviation is great to be in, but the cost is high. I tend to tell my students you need a lot of either time, money, or both. As long as you’re solid with your study plans and financially, I would say go for it. The worst that can happen is wondering what could have happened. However, I don’t have kids, a mortgage, or high cost of living…everybody is different. Starting a career flip when older is doable 100%, I’ve seen and trained people who were doing it. 😊 but you’ll need to be able to pay for it, and time build for 3+ years….I honestly tell people it’s like getting a bachelors degree (but a harder degree, where you cannot bs or be lazy, because every pilot must pass Checkride to the same standard). I totally believe you can do it. You’re already in the aviation industry after all 😃
